Apartment at Boulogne, Paris.
A narrow hall is the backbone and the main artery of this flat. Our aim is to make it appear wider to lead the eye forward toward the kitchen.
Initially we thought that a suitable wallpaper might break up the immediacy of the wall surface here. However, even a simple pattern made this space busy and uncomfortable.
Finally we mixed up a FADED LILAC that made the hallway look spacious and inviting.
The kitchen/ dining area at the end of the hall is our main design challenge. A large modern unit rather imposes itself here on a small room of an architecturally earlier period. The windows give views over lead-lined rooftops and a large expanse of the sky.
To enlarge the kitchen perceptually we mix a POWDER BLUE for the walls to relate this space to the sky outside and balance the modern YELLOW of the kitchen unit in a harmonious composition.
We also feel tat the floor should reflect the modern style of the kitchen unit and propose accordingly a BUFF coloured linoleum to harmonize with the old parquet in the hallway and the blue walls.
BUFF is a neutral beige colour from the Farrow & Ball range.

The salon's two large windows open onto a vast suburban skyline giving one the impression of being on top of the world.
One can easily feel a need of protection here from the elements of the outside yet from another perspective a feeling of communion with the open skies may become the predominant sensation.
The red oxide marble fireplace with its decorative panels feature strongly in our design as we follow the client's feelings and create an Italian palazzo colour TRAVERTINE ROSE. With a chalky body and a warm, natural feel it effects an intimate, holding experience.
