Pharmacy at Levallois-Perret, Paris.

On first impression a pharmacy must give a sense of healing. Psychologically, the place is the final destination of a journey to receive a magic substance which will transform illness into health. In a sense therefore, the pharmacy counter is an altar where a relief from pain is dispensed.

For the pharmacist this healing ritual is contained in the everyday experience of work and human contact. Service, accessibility, professional advice and medical science are all aspects of the pharmacist's work that must find expression in the architectural colour ambiance of the place.
